Off we went on a trip to Weymouth for the week, on the way home I didn’t want to waste a day so decided to go on one of my new favourite activities! National Trust!
I have the NT app and they have a section with all the NT places in the UK, you can search a list of places or on a map. I looked on the map to see what was between home and Weymouth. Montacute House was one of 3 or 4 properties within a couple of miles of each other near Yeovil.
The house had gardens and local woodland walks, there was a second hand book shop, café and NT shop. We enjoyed walking around the grounds, there were lots of sheep to watch! We had a picnic in the grounds which was nice because it was quiet, we took our own lunch, the café and courtyard was heaving!
We had a little wander around the house, but it’s hard to look at things properly when you have a toddler!

We picked up 2 books in the second hand book shop, Toddlersarous had me reading them the minute we got out of the shop!

We spent a couple of hours wandering around, I don’t think it would take much longer even without a toddler. There is another NT property and gardens nearby that you could also visit and have a day out doing all the local properties.
Parking is free!
